Pressing Developments was founded in 2018 by Adam Fuhr and his friend John Ramm. After years of strategic discussions and significant developments, the two inevitably found themselves in business together from unlikely professional backgrounds. After all, this is where the best innovations take place.

The Woodworking Industry has been stagnant and lacking real innovation for many decades. Seeing the need for “something new,” both Adam and John had a desire to change this. Recognizing a period of large corporate consolidation in the wood industry, the environment offered a perfect opportunity for improved efficiencies and innovation that could solve real challenges. Leveraging key developments that Adam established in his wood finishing business, acquired in 2015, and adding further innovation and creativity, resulted in multiple issued patents and solutions, solving real problems throughout the entire industry.

John’s background in business is mostly  focused on high volume, low margin  enterprises where he effectively increased profitability by managing costs. Efficiency and innovation were keys to success in these environments. He was involved in product development, exports, understanding international relations, and product development. After completing his formal education in economics, environmental management and finance, he began his career in agriculture in Southern Africa. John has since been involved in several different companies and multiple industries. Most recently, exiting healthcare via M&A transaction. Having successfully built and sold while working closely with private equity and investment companies, he understands value creation throughout all aspects of the value chain. As a certified ISO 14000 auditor, John became well versed in environmental sustainability and quality management systems. He was able to see how management standards could push companies in every type of industry to perform at very high levels, and create additional value. A systems management approach led these companies to be highly successful, and John saw the importance of a continuous improvement environment and analyzing key metrics. He has been able to bring his years of diverse experiences and quality improvement philosophies to Pressing Developments.

Adam’s background is focused on the development and implementation of materials into large woodworking organizations throughout the world. He has a deep history in wood coatings development by implementing environment friendly solutions for a few of the largest woodworking companies in the world. His father owned a coatings development company, and Adam had the opportunity to spend summers and breaks working alongside his brothers and father to both develop and produce coatings. This turned into a passion for developing high performing, environmentally sound, wood coatings in the early 2000s. After purchasing, growing, and selling his wood coatings company, Adam had the opportunity to start focusing fully on real solutions for the woodworking industry. Development and innovation are the areas that Adam focuses on for Pressing Developments.

Starting with a few ideas and a rich history in development, environmental awareness, and systems management, the founders of Pressing Developments came together to form the premier technology company specifically targeting the wood working industry. The diversity of backgrounds and 50+ years of combined manufacturing and development history was the starting point.
